Residents displaced by fire provided dinner in Willow Hall
July 16, 2012
A dinner at Willow Hall is scheduled for 6 p.m. for the students who were displaced by the fire at South Meadow Apartments at 301 S. Fifth St.
Residents of the apartment complex have been placed temporarily in Willow Hall. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
“There have been a lot of lovely people who have offered donations including furniture donations,” said a spokeswoman for the Red Cross of Central Iowa. “Unfortunately, right now there is not a lot of storage space, so they are encouraging monetary donations for the residents right now.”
People interested in helping can contact the Red Cross at 515-243-7681.
Approximately 56 units were evacuated, and 100 people were displaced when the fire broke out around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, July 15.
