ISU track athletes compete internationally

ISU track and field athletes were in action all over the world during the Father’s Day weekend. Athletes competed at Olympic Trials, as well as some national championships.

Distance runner Betsy Saina competed in the 10,000-meter run and placed sixth at the Kenyan Olympic Trials. The trials were held in Nairobi, Kenya, on Friday. 

Saina was also selected to represent Kenya in the African Senior Athletic Championships later in June. 

Also competing in Nairobi, 800-meter runner Edward Kemboi advanced to the final heat of the 800-meter run Friday. Kemboi finished seventh at the Kenyan National Championships with a time of 1:46.5.

Moving to Europe, German native Rico Loy entered the German National Championships placing fourth with a time of 3:46.99.

Distance runner Meaghan Nelson and hurdler Kianna Elahi will compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials starting June 22 in Eugene, Ore.
