The National Weather Services in Des Moines has extended a severe thunderstorm watch to includes Ames until 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Large hail and damaging winds are possible as storms develop and move across the state early this morning.

A round of thunderstorms passed through Ames around 2 a.m. and triggered a severe thunderstorm warning. Tornado warnings were issued for parts of northern Story County.
