ISU Foundation president announces he will step down

Dan Saftig, president and chief executive officer of the ISU Foundation, has announced he will be stepping down from his position as of today.

According to a release from Marla Franklin, chairwoman of the ISU Foundation, Saftig has worked for the ISU Foundation for nine years. During his term, the ISU Foundation has generated more than $1 billion in gifts and commitments, including $867 million during the most successful fundraising campaign in ISU history, “Campaign Iowa State,” which was completed June 30.

Also while under his leadership, the ISU Foundation was named “one of the top 20 nonprofit organizations to work for in America by NonProfit Times magazine, and recognized as a top workplace in Iowa by The Des Moines Register,” according to the release.

According to its website, the ISU Foundation is a “private nonprofit organization dedicated to securing and stewarding private gifts and grants that benefit Iowa State University.”

Labh Hira, retiring dean of the College of Business, will serve as the Foundation’s interim president and the search for a new president will begin immediately.
