The ISU softball team fell to Texas Tech by a final score of 6-2 on Saturday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas. The loss moves Iowa State’s Big 12 record to 0-5 this season.

The Cyclones (10-21, 0-5 Big 12) did a good job of keeping the Red Raiders (29-7, 2-2 Big 12) — one of the highest scoring teams in the conference — off the scoreboard, but failed to generate much offense of their own. Tori Torrescano started in the pitcher’s circle for Iowa State, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits and five walks.

Texas Tech starter Brittany Talley gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk in five innings of work.

Erica Miller had a good day at the plate for the Cyclones, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Texas Tech’s offense proved too much for Iowa State in the end. Adriana Perez built on her reputation as one of the top offensive threats in the Big 12, going 2-for3 with two RBIs. Third baseman Emily Bledsoe went 1-for-3 and added two RBIs of her own.

The weekend series concludes Sunday at noon.
