City Council to wrap up budget meeting

The Ames City Council will meet Tuesday to wrap up the budget for the fiscal year 2012/13, which will be finalized by a public hearing on March 6.
Presentations will be given on arts funding, human services, public art and community and student grant requests. Public input will be received on the budget as well as specifications of the Capital Improvements Plan.
Following the budget meeting will be a regular City Council meeting, which includes a resolution for CyRide fuel purchases. This resolution approves up to five two-month fuel contracts at a total price not to exceed $735,000, as well as accepting completion of 2010/11 CyRide Route Improvements Program.
Other motions include amending the agreement with Iowa State for a shared sustainability coordinator and the downtown street pavement improvement project.
The council will discuss Ames infrastructure projects including power plant fire risk mitigation, transformer LTC installation, Ames municipal cemetery improvements fencing project, neighborhood improvements program and approval of plat surveys throughout the Ames area.
