The Iowa State Open ended Saturday with the ISU women’s track and field team earning five titles and breaking a meet record.

ISU senior Kianna Elahi competed in the 600-yard run winning in ISU Open-record fashion with a time of 1:21.05. This is now the second consecutive meet in which Elahi has broken a meet record.

The 1,000-meter run proved a strong race for the men’s and women’s squads as redshirt freshman Maggie Gannon won the crown for the women, running 2:55.82. On the men’s side, sophomore Edward Kemboi, competing unattached, took home first place in the 1,000 with a time of 2:25.69.

Sprinting for Iowa State was senior Ian Warner, who finished in third place of the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.74. Warner finished second in the preliminary heat of the 60-meter dash earlier in the day.

The Cyclones will host the Bill Bergan Invitational next Thursday through Saturday at Lied Recreation Center.
