The fairly calm crowd of more than 200 sat in the Ames Middle School commons, which was decorated in posters for Rick Perry, Ron Paul and a single poster for Michele Bachmann, waiting to vote in the 2012 Iowa caucuses. Most voters left quickly after casting their vote.

Kurt Kohl, ISU senior in computer engineering, said he supported Perry because of his “strong anti-abortion campaign.”

Another voter stated he was “the undecided guy” as he walked down the hall.

A.J. Spiker, vice-chairperson of Paul’s campaign, spoke for the Texas congressman. Spiker said Paul has a plan to cut $1 trillion in the first year of taking office and break even by year three.

No one at the middle school spoke in favor of Gingrich or Huntsman.
