Beate Schmittmann has been named the next dean of Iowa State’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, an ISU news release reported Wednesday. 

Schmittmann, who is a professor and the chair of the physics department at Virginia Tech University, will become the new LAS dean April 2, the release stated.
