Bachmann’s state campaign chair quits, endorses Paul
December 28, 2011
Kent Sorenson, state chair of Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign, has quit Bachmann’s campaign and has endorsed Ron Paul, Bachmann said at a press conference outside Pizza Ranch in Boone on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
“Kent Sorenson personally told me he was offered a large sum of money to go to work for the Paul campaign. Kent campaigned with us earlier this afternoon and went immediately afterward to a Ron Paul event and announced he is changing teams,” Bachmann said. “Kent said to me yesterday that ‘Everyone sells out in Iowa. Why shouldn’t I?’ Then, he told me he would stay with our campaign. The Ron Paul campaign has to answer for its actions.”
However, Sorenson reportedly told NBC News that the accusations were absurd.
Bachmann announced that Brad Zaun will be taking Sorenson’s old position.
After the short press conference, the crowd moved inside for Bachmann’s speech.
Bachmann began by saying, “Iowa born and bred — that’s what we need in the White House.”
She said Iowa values have to get into the White House and the crony capitalists need to get out.
“I think all of us agree on one proposition and that is we have to have the best candidate to take on Barack Obama and end his reign of terror in the United States,” Bachmann said.
She said there needs to be an end to the socialism that Obama brought into the United States. Socializing medicine, the car industry and student loans is wrong, Bachmann said.
“We’re not a third-world Banana Republic. We’re the greatest country in the world,” Bachmann said.
She said that the best way to take back the country is by electing someone truly electable.
“The year that Barack Obama ran — the year that House Republicans lost majority — that’s when I ran,” Bachmann said.
Bachmann said people understood that democrats and independents knew that she wasn’t a politician and, “they knew that I meant what I say and I say what I mean.”
She said she is an extremely hard-working person and will win against Obama if she’s elected.
“Just like we needed a Reagan in 1980, England was also in trouble and they needed someone to get the county back, and they found her,” Bachmann said. “Her name was Margaret Thatcher and she became England’s Iron Lady and I want to become America’s Iron Lady.”
Bachmann said she has the best plan for illegal immigration.
“I will build the fence and I will make English the official language of the United States’ government,” Bachmann said.
She said she receives the same classified documents the president receives on national security, and said she couldn’t disclose anything but, “we have got to have a president who is ready.”
“I see this threat for what it is,” Bachmann said. “They want to establish a global caliphate and establish Sharia all across the country.”
