Spangler nabs upset, Sorenson notches bonus points in loss

It was the same old story for the ISU wrestling team in its first road dual of the season.
The No. 17 Cyclones (0-8, 0-3 Big 12) saw wins from only three wrestlers in their 31-10 loss to Missouri in Columbia, Mo., on Sunday.
Redshirt junior Chris Spangler spurred the Cyclones to an early 3-0 lead when he upset No. 3 Dorian Henderson in a 7-4 decision at 174 pounds. This was his second upset of the season, having upended No. 6 Ethen Lofthouse in the Dec. 4 dual loss to Iowa.
Luke Goettl earned his first dual victory of the season, beating Brandon Weist in a 6-5 decision at the 141-pound match.
Senior captain Andrew Sorenson remainded perfect on the season, notching a 12-4 major decision against 12th-ranked Zach Toal.
The Cyclones will next compete at the Midlands Championships at Evanston, Ill., on Dec. 29-30.
