Cyclones down Northern Arizona

Iowa State easily defeated Northern Arizona on Sunday 65-41. After jumping out to a 30-14 lead at halftime, the now 3-0 Cyclones were able to coast in the second half and come away with the win.
Iowa State was led by strong showings from its forwards in Chelsea Poppens and sophomore Hallie Christofferson. Poppens finished the game 7-of-9 from the field with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Christofferson finished with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Freshman point guard Nikki Moody posted career highs in assists with nine, rebounds with four and steals with three. Those numbers earned her Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors.
After building that 16-point lead at half, the Cyclones made their first six shots from the field and their first four free throws to extend the lead to 44-18.
The Cyclones next travel to Reno, Nev., to take on Penn State in the Nugget Classic at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
