Big 12 Power Rankings — Week 10
November 4, 2011
1. Oklahoma State (+1) (8-0, 5-0) — Oklahoma State remains the only unbeaten team in the Big 12 after Kansas State’s loss to Oklahoma last Saturday. The Cowboys are fourth in total offense, averaging 555.13 yards per game.
2. Oklahoma (-1) (7-1, 4-1) — Texas Tech’s loss to Iowa State is huge for Oklahoma’s clinging-to-life hopes of a national title berth. All they can do now is win and win big.
3. Kansas State (–) (7-1, 4-1) — The 7-0 start for K-State was a nice story, but the Wildcats were completely outmatched against Oklahoma. Bill Snyder’s boys still might be the third-best team in the Big 12, although a showdown with Texas in two weeks will decide that.
4. Texas (+1) (5-2, 2-2) — With losses against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in the rearview mirror, the Longhorns blanked Kansas and look prepared to push for a third-place finish in the league.
5. Missouri (+2) (4-4, 2-3) — Big 12 run defenses beware. The Tigers have rushed for an average 275.3 yards per game in their last three games, which included a overtime upset win against No. 16 Texas A&M.
6. Texas A&M (-2) (5-3, 3-2) — The Aggies lost an overtime thriller to Missouri in College Station, Texas, last Saturday. Running back Christine Michael leads the team with 811 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
7. Baylor (-1) (4-3, 1-3) — Robert Griffin III’s stats have become more pedestrian in the Bears’ last two losses, completing just 68 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and three interceptions in those contests combined.
8. Iowa State (+1) (4-4, 1-4) — Coach Paul Rhoads called the TTU win the first “complete” game the team has played this season. Something tells me it won’t take a complete game to beat Kansas.
9. Texas Tech (-1) (5-3, 2-3) — No team has ever gone from no top 25 votes to ranked to no top 25 votes in three consecutive weeks. The Red Raiders could stop Landry Jones, but not Jared Barnett. If you figure them out, let us know.
10. Kansas (–) (2-6, 0-5) — The Jayhawks are allowing 555.75 total yards per game and 49.5 points per game, both of which are dead-last among FBS schools.
