U.N. voted unanimously to condemn violence in Yemen
October 21, 2011
The U.N. Security Council voted unanimously Friday in favor of a resolution that condemns violence in Yemen, where demonstrators, government forces and rival factions have been embroiled in months of unrest.
The 15-0 vote demands that the Yemeni government allow peaceful demonstrations to take place and to end crackdowns on civilians. It does not, however, sanction embattled President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
