Juvenile arrested for armed robberies
September 23, 2011
As a result of follow-up investigations of armed robberies at Kum & Go and Swift Shop in Ames, a 15-year-old male has been taken into custody and accused of two counts of armed robbery, second degree, each a class C felony.
Investigations cmdr. Jim Robinson said, “We’ve conducted a number of interviews and executed a couple of search warrants. We have enough evidence that has been recovered and reviewed… and there was enough probable cause to charge the individual for the first two armed robberies.”
Robinson said the police are continuing to search for evidence for the third robbery at this point.
According to a press release, the juvenile matches the description of the suspect from all three robberies.
The juvenile has been transferred to the Central Iowa Juvenile Detection Center in Eldora, according to the release.
The police report identifies the juvenile, but it is against the Iowa State Daily’s policies to print the name of juveniles in police reports.
