Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., visits Ames to discuss her plans if she were to win the presidency. Warren spoke to a seated crowd in a full South Ballroom at the Memorial Union on Friday, May 3. “What’s happening in America is a, is an economic calamity in this country. A middle class that’s being hollowed out. Working families that do everything they can, bust their tails, and still can’t make it. But it is not a race neutral or race blind economy in America. Race matters in this country and we have to be willing to call that out and address is head on,” Warren said in response to an audience question from Brandon Turner, junior in psychology at Iowa State. Turner asked Warren how she will diversify the space that she speaks at and how he can know that she supports him as a person of color.
