Follow these tips to be Cyclone chic

It’s finally tailgating and football season. Any given Saturday during the season, Ames transforms into a sea of cardinal and gold. Everywhere students go, they see jerseys, striped overalls, body paint, foam fingers and — let’s be honest — a plethora of fashion faux pas.
ISU students go all out to show school spirit on game days. Some love showing it in ridiculous ways, while others prefer to leave the stadium after a game with their dignity intact. Those of you in the latter category shouldn’t worry: body paint isn’t required, and there are more subtle ways to show your Cyclone spirit.
Headbands are the accessories that take any outfit from casual to chic. Don a cardinal colored headband to show some extra Cyclone spirit. Ideal for an early gameday — no hairstyling is required — headbands add head-to-toe style. Wearing the crimson Haute Wire Headband from ModCloth is the perfect way to keep your hair in place and still look adorable. Find it online at ModCloth.com for $13.99.
Don’t have a cardinal-and-gold coat in the closet for chilly days? Wrap a yellow or red scarf around a coat, jacket or cardigan to instantly ‘cyclonize’ your wardrobe. It’s a subtle touch, but one that would make Paul Rhoads proud.
A skirt that can be worn day or night is a must-have in every clothing collection. Cotton skirts are great choices for all seasons; pair them with tights during the winter and a tank during the warmer months. The Pique Full Woven Skirt from American Apparel is a must-buy for its versatility. The butter tint pairs well with cardinal or any red hue. At $38, it’s a skirt for a gameday or any day.
