Ames247: Reporter

Ames247 reporters will be responsible for covering a beat and finding and telling interesting and informative stories in many different ways. Reporters will formulate story ideas based on their beats, which they will work on and develop with their editors. Reporters will also develop sources within their beat, getting to know the people involved with the stories they want to tell.
Regular work will range from preview stories and event coverage to compiling information for info graphics and writing feature stories or profiles. Reporting is not limited to writing stories with words, and can be expanded to photography and videography, as well.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Cover a beat assigned by an editor – develop sources and find story ideas.
- Telling interesting or informative stories with information gathered on that beat.
- Collaborate with photographers, designers and graphic designers on story presentation.
- Shoot video to go along with stories. Knowledge of editing video is beneficial, but not necessary.
- Use social media to promote stories and the ames247 brand.
- Attend weekly desk meetings.
