Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until Monday morning

The National Weather Service’s Storm Predication Center in Norman, Okla. has extended a severe thunderstorm watch to include Story, Boone and Polk counties until 8 a.m. Monday, July 11.
Most of western and central Iowa is now under the watch.
The hazardous weather outlook for central Iowa indicates that storms are likely overnight. It says the main threat will be north of Highway 30, but that additional storms may form as far south as Interstate Highway 80 toward 3 a.m. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary threat from any storms that form.
