The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a heat advisory for Story County until 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 27.

High pressure is expected to build into the area this afternoon into Wednesday, and south winds ahead of an approaching weather system to the west will pull very warm and humid air into Iowa, according to the advisory.

High temperatures today and Wednesday will reach the low to mid 90s with heat indices reaching 105 to 110. Overnight lows will fall to the mid to upper 70s.

The weather service recommends moving strenuous activities to early morning or the evening.
