The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a heat advisory for the area until 7 p.m. Friday, July 1.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s on Thursday and Friday. The temperature will remain in the mid to up 70s Thursday night into Friday morning. Heat indicies will reach 105-110 on Friday afternoon into evening. 

The weather service advises taking extra precautions if you are working or spending time outside. It recommends rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
