In response to tonight’s storms, the National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a flash flood warning for eastern Boone County, northwestern Polk County and western Story County.

The warning indicated storms moving through the area were producing 2-3 inches of rain per hour. The weather service expects runoff from this rain to cause flash flooding in some areas.

The warning continues until 3:30 a.m. Friday.
