Severe thunderstrom warning extended until 10:30 p.m.

Update (9:48 p.m.):

The National Weather Service has extended the warning for Ames until 10:30 p.m.

As of 9:38 p.m. Doppler Radar indicated the storm was 9 miles west of Ames and moving east at 60 mph.

 


 

 

Update (9:40 p.m.):

As of 9:34 p.m. the storm was near Boone, or 10 miles west of Ames. It was moving east at 55 mph. Quarter size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph are still possible.


The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a severe thunderstom warning for Story County until 9:45 p.m.

At 9:15 p.m. Doppler Radar indicated a storm capable of producing quarter size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph located 9 miles west of Ogden, or 29 miles west of Ames, according to the warning. The storm was moving east at 65 mph.

As of 9:34 p.m. the storm was near Boone, or 10 miles west of Ames. It was moving east at 55 mph. Quarter size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph are still possible.

The approaching storm system has produced severe thunderstorm warning across western Iowa. It has also trigged tornado warnings in Carroll and Greene counties.

The area between milemarkers 103 and 139 on Interstate Highway 35 are included in the warning.

As previously issued flash flood watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. Monday.
