Severe thunderstorm watch for Wednesday evening

Update (10:10 p.m. Wedneday, June 8):
The National Weather Service has canceled the severe thunderstorm watch for Story County.
The forecast for the rest of the week includes the chance of more storms through Friday night. The hazardous weather outlook indicates that some of those storms could be severe. Storms are expected again Sunday night into Monday.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla. has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for 29 Iowa counties, including Story and Polk Counties.
The watch is in effect until midnight.
The weather services’ hazardous weather outlook indicates that thunderstorms will develop tonight, with the primary threats being large hail and high winds. Locally heavy rain is also possible through the night.
