The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issues a severe thunderstorm warning until 12:15 a.m. Tuesday for Story County. Eastern Boone County is also included in the warning.

The warning states that at 11:25 p.m. Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph. The storm was located near Madrid, or 13 miles outhwest of Ames.

Areas between mile markers 103 and 141 on Interstate Highway 35 are included in the warning.

A tornado watch remains in effect for the area until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
