Meet Warren Madden from the Office of the Vice President of Business and Finance

The Office of the Vice President for Business and Finance is responsible for aesthetics, inclusion, integrity, innovation, excellence and stewardship on campus.
Warren Madden has served as the vice president of business and finance since 1984.
He has been at Iowa State for more than 44 years and has served as vice president, treasurer, associate vice president, assistant vice president, and contracts and grants officer.
Madden has been responsible for business and fiscal affairs of the university and has been involved in the administration and presentation of fiscal business issues to the university community, state and national government, community groups and individuals.
He has helped establish the research park, retirement community and several private corporations.
Madden also oversees the university’s accounting, investments, payroll, human resource services, facilities planning and management, purchasing, public safety, environmental health and safety, risk management, University Museums operations and Reiman Gardens.
During his time at Iowa State the university’s enrollment has doubled, the budget has increased by more than $950 million and the campus has added more than 13 million square feet of space.
In July 1993 he was the recipient of NACUBO’s highest honor, the Distinguished Business Officer’s Award.
In 2009 he received Iowa State’s Order of the Knoll Faculty/Staff Award, recognition to an individual with a philanthropic spirit and who has brought distinction to the university through professional and personal achievements.
The goals of the Office of the Vice President for Business and Finance are to provide information, data and master planning; enhance and expand systematic approaches to develop, operate and maintain facilities; provide services that promote a safe, comfortable and secure campus environment; and implement sustainable strategies that promote Iowa State as an environmental leader.
