Player of the Year:
Jacob Pullen Guard Kansas State
It was a tough decision, passing up Morris’ all-around ability, Hamilton’s NBA talent, or Burks’ knack for making things happen. But Pullen is a straight-up winner and without his heroics, the Big 12 would be a lot less interesting.
Coach of the Year:
Mark Turgeon Texas A&M
Leading a squad based on hustle, defense and discipline to a 10-6 mark in the Big 12 means you’ve done a heck of a job.
Most Improved Player:
Diante Garrett Guard Iowa State
There was no doubt Garrett would get the nod here. He has absolutely seized the opportunity to run his team.
Newcomer of the Year:
Tristan Thompson Forward Texas
Freshmen don’t dominate the paint in a grown man’s conference without motivation, determination and a heavy-helping of talent.
