Rhoads rumored to be a target for Pittsburgh job
December 8, 2010
Cyclone fans have been down this road before.
Dave Wannstedt resigned from his post leading the University of Pittsburgh’s football program Tuesday, setting the coaching carousel further in motion. ISU football coach Paul Rhoads was the defensive coordinator for the Panthers from 2000 to 2007, and has been linked to their coaching search.
Rhoads was out of his office Wednesday and unavailable for comment.
In December of 2008, former ISU coach Gene Chizik departed after two years in Ames when the head job at Auburn University became available. Chizik was 5-19 in two seasons at Iowa State.
Rhoads’ name has become more popular in coaching rumors after going 12-13 in his first two seasons with the Cyclones, including road wins at Nebraska and Texas and an Insight Bowl victory in December.
