Cyclones top Virginia, move to 12-2 on the season

Iowa State picked up a big road win Thursday night, topping Virginia 60-47 in Charlottesville, Va.
ISU forward Jamie Vanderbeken scored a career-high 24 points in the win, including shooting 9-of-12 from the field.
Iowa State controlled much of the game, leading by as many as 21 points in the second half en route to beating the ACC’s Cavaliers.
ISU guard Scott Christopherson finished the game with 14 points while fellow guard Diante Garrett ended the game with nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Freshman forward Melvin Ejim was the third Cyclone to hit the 10-point mark, scoring 10 while grabbing eight boards.
Virginia is now 8-5 on the season, and played without its top scorer, Mike Scott. No Cavalier reached double-digit scoring.
The Cyclones are back in action on Monday (Jan. 3), playing host to Northern Illinois at 7 p.m.
