Cyclones defeat Central Oklahoma in shootout

The Cyclone hockey team took on the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Friday night, and took home a win to make up for the loss the previous night against the University of Oklahoma. The win ended in a shootout.
The Bronchos took hold of the lead in the first period, and scored against Cyclone golie Erik Hudson, leaving the score at 1-0. The Cyclones had 13 shots on goal during the period and Oklahoma had 13.
Unable to score again in the second period, the Cyclones left the period trailing the Bronchos, who made a late goal in the period to make the score 2-0.
In the third period, the Cyclones stepped up their offensive efforts. Matt Bennett and Derek Kohles each scored during the period, tying up the game at 2-2.
After regulation play, the sudden death 4-on-4 overtime period began. Neither team was able to score during the period and the shootout began.
Cyclone freshman Chris Cucullu scored the first goal, and the Bronchos scored for themselves. Jake Flynn scored the last goal of the shootout, and the Cyclones took a 3-2 shootout win.
Following the weekend games in Oklahoma, the Cyclones record is now at 10 wins, and 10 losses. The Cyclones head to Canada next, and will take on the University of British Columbia on Nov. 26. During the trip the Cyclones will also battle Simon Fraser on Nov. 27, and then end with a game against Trinity Western University on Nov. 28.
