AUSTIN, Texas — Coming off of two defeats by a combined score of 120-27, the Cyclones are leading the No. 22 Texas Longhorns 14-3 on the road.

With some trickery and quick plays down the field, Iowa State’s defense has been the key to this game through two quarters, holding the Longhorn offense to 4 yards per play.

Quieting the home crowd with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Darius Reynolds in the first quarter, the Cyclones kept the momentum going in the second.

The Longhorn offense was held to three points on three red zone chances, including a missed field goal with 30 seconds left in the half.

A strong field position advantage has been provided by punter Kirby Van Der Kamp, punting five times to the Horns at a 50.6 yard average, including a 75-yard bomb that pinned Texas back on the one yard line.
