Iowa State transfer Anderson granted NCAA waiver, eligible for 2010 season

The ISU men’s basketball team announced Wednesday that transfer Darion Anderson has received a waiver from the NCAA, making him eligible to play in the 2010-2011 season.

Anderson, known as “Jake,” transferred to Iowa State in May from Northern Illinois.

He will be a senior this season.

“Words can’t express how I feel right now,” Anderson said. “It was a long process, and I kept my faith and I am just happy to be able to continue my collegiate career as a Cyclone. I want to thank the NCAA for allowing me this chance. I really did not have a backup plan, so going through the waiting process was really tough.”

Anderson was the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2007 and averaged 16.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in 2009.
