Residents displaced by kitchen fire
June 24, 2010
The Ames Fire Department responded to a call Thursday evening about a residential kitchen fire at 1001 North Dakota Ave.
All residents of the apartments had exited the building before two fire trucks arrived on the scene. There were no injuries.
Lt. Tom Hackett said the fire crew removed a dog from the building and was able to stop the fire in the kitchen.
Hackett said the fire was cooking related, and four residents would be temporarily displaced due to fire and smoke damage in one of the bottom floor apartments.
Hackett said the apartment above the fire had suffered some minor smoke damage.
