ISU track standout Lisa Koll was awarded the Honda Sports Award for track and field Monday at the J.D. Morgan Center in a ceremony on UCLA’s campus.

The award is given to the nation’s top female student athlete in each sport.

“When you think of all the great track and field competitors in our country, to receive this award as the top collegiate female track and field athlete is a great honor,” Koll said in a statement released Monday. “I want to thank my coach, Corey Ihmels; Iowa State; and my family, whose love and encouragement has gotten me here.”

The senior from Fort Dodge was also a finalist for the Honda-Broderick Cup, an honor given to the female collegiate athlete of the year. Megan Hodge of Penn State and Maya Moore of the University of Connecticut shared the award.
