MBB: Cyclones guard Charles Boozer arrested
May 1, 2010
Cyclone basketball player Charles Boozer was arrested Saturday afternoon on a simple assault charge in Ames.
The ISU guard was taken to the Story County Jail, where he was released after posting a $300 bond, according to the Story County jail clerk. No other information on the arrest could be released at this time.
The charge is a simple misdemeanor, with a mandatory fine of at least $50, but not more than $500. Although not typically used for simple misdemeanors, punishment can include jail time not to exceed 30 days.
The younger brother of NBA All-Star and Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, Charles averaged 3.5 points per game for the Cyclones before tearing his ACL in January. He scored a career high 19 points on January 9, and was injured in the next game, against Texas. A native of Raleigh, N.C., the 6-foot-3 guard is one of only six scholarship players returning for the Cyclones. Last week, he estimated his full recovery time from his leg injury to be another two months.
Boozer was unavailable for comment.
