LETTERS: Miss Wheelchair to increase awareness
April 30, 2010
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Samantha Edwards. I am a junior here at Iowa State majoring in journalism and mass communication. As you may know from the recent article that was published in the Daily, I was recently crowned Miss Wheelchair Iowa. I will use this experience to increase the awareness of the accomplishments and struggles of people with disabilities, as well as the general public, through the use of print media.
I will take part in the national Miss Wheelchair America pageant on Aug. 9, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Every contestant must raise $1,500 in order to participate, and thanks to a generous donation by Barilla America and a family member, I only have $750 more to raise. If you would like to help with a financial donation, please contact me via e-mail at [email protected]. I hope to make Iowa State proud!
