GYMNASTICS: Cyclones fall to Hawkeyes in Ames

Iowa State registered its second-lowest score of the season Friday when the Hawkeyes visited Hilton Coliseum, and the Cyclones went away with a loss 195.175–194.150.

Iowa had the lead after the first rotation with a score of 48.950 on bars. The Cyclones began the meet with a 48.575 on the vault.

During the second rotation, Iowa maintained its lead with a 48.800 on vault. The Cyclones registered a 48.900 on the bars, lessening the gap by a tenth of a point.

The ISU gymnasts moved to the beam for the third rotation, and Iowa moved to the floor exercise. The Cyclones went after a comeback and came up just short with a 48.825 on beam. Iowa maintained the lead narrowly with a 48.725 on floor.

The Cyclones were poised to take the lead during the fourth rotation on floor, but the team was forced to count a low score after two falls and scored a 47.850. The Hawkeyes kept it together with a 48.700 on beam for the win.
