LETTERS: The slippery slope of censorship, free press is important

I would like to name and shame the major article in Tuesday’s paper talking about how some things need to be censored.
In this day and age, people get bombarded with information at more and more alarming rates.
Yes, there are some videos that some agree should not be seen, but that is what makes freedom of information so important. With the recent passing of a mandatory blacklist filter in Australia, freedom of information on the internet is under even more threat.
With that passed, who’s to say whats next? If we censor this, then why can’t we step it up?
Lets take out those videos of say, World War II footage. Our current tax dollars didn’t pay for that, so why should we care?
Accidents happen, and censorship is a slippery slope. If one starts to censor, it can be found its very difficult to stop it.
