Executive cabinet will see changes for spring semester

Paige Godden —

The Government of the Student Body Executive Cabinet will be going through some changes next semester.

Several directors in the cabinet will not be returning for a variety of reasons.

Mike Beals, director of special projects and administration and junior in accounting, will not be returning.

Paul Keppy, currently the city council liaison, will be filling Beals’ position as well as maintaining his present role as liaison.

One of Keppy’s main goals was to rejuvenate Campustown, which he said is a goal that won’t happen overnight, although there have been some changes discussed.

Earlier in the semester Keppy helped establish the Ames City Council debate hosted by the GSB.

Next semester Keppy said he plans on working on getting information about the census out.

As far as taking over Mike Beals position of director of special projects and administration Keppy said he has accepted the position.

Keppy said he is also planning on taking over some chief of staff duties for Jon Turk, GSB president and senior in political science, but they haven’t discussed what projects he will be taking on yet.

Alyssa Vogel, director of the ISU Ambassadors and senior in finance, has been offered an internship and will also be leaving.

There are currently two or three assistant directors who are eager to take over the job, Turk said.

Halie Mohr, GSB secretary and sophomore in pre-journalism and mass communication, is leaving as well for an international student study opportunity.

A former secretary may be interested in reclaiming the job, Turk said.

Denton Patrick is the final member of the executive branch who will be leaving. Patrick is the director of new student relations and sophomore in biology.

Turk said there were a few people who applied for the job at the beginning of the year who did not get it who he will be talking to about taking the position as well as some others who are being considered.
