The ISU cross country team had a successful weekend at the Big 12 Championships in Columbia, Mo.

After last year’s disappointing ninth–place finish, the Cyclone women finished third overall. This was the women’s best finish in school history. Senior Lisa Koll led the women by finishing third overall with a time of 21:17. Freshman Betsy Saina and senior Grace Kemmey finished 17th and 18th, sharing a time of 22:15.

Senior Guor Marial led the fourth-placed Cyclone men’s team, finishing fifth overall in the meet. Marial finished the 8,000–meter race with a time of 25:04. This was the first time since 2001 that a Cyclone runner finished in the top five in the men’s category.

Sophomore Hillary Bor followed shortly after Marial’s pace, finishing eighth overall with a time of 25:18. Sophomore Yonas Mebrahtu, who failed to score points for the Cyclones last year after finishing sixth on the team, finished 18th overall with a time of 25:35.
