HOCKEY: Cyclones fall in shootout

Despite a tight battle throughout all three periods, Iowa State fell to Central Oklahoma on Saturday night in a shootout after three scoreless periods, and a scoreless overtime.

The Cyclones entered the overtime period with a player in the penalty box, but would go on to kill the penalty. Overtime ended in a 0-0 tie and sent the game to a shootout.

Brent Cornelius shot first for the Cyclones and found the back of the net. Central Oklahoma would answer right away getting the puck past Iowa State goalie Eric Hudson. Cody Steele shot next for Iowa State and was denied by the Central Oklahoma goalie. Central Oklahoma scored on its next chance to force the Cyclones to make it, but Jason Pacheco’s shot was saved by the Bronchos’ goalie, giving the visitors the win.
