GSB to host city council candidates forum

The Government of the Student Body is hosting a candidates forum, 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union, for the upcoming city council elections Nov. 3, according to a press release.

Three council seats are currently contested.

Mayor Ann Campbell is running for re-election uncontested.

Candidates participating in the forum, along with Campbell, include: Mike Miller; Peter Orazem, university professor of economics and Sheli Dougherty, all running for the at-large seat; Councilman Ryan Doll, Jeremy Davis and Brian McLain all running for the third-ward seat; and Tom Wacha and Councilman Dan Rice, also an academic adviser for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, both running for the first-ward seat.

Discussion will be moderated by Dianne Bystrom, director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, according to the release.
