College of Engineering diversity on Tuesday

The College of Engineering is hosting the annual Diversity Fair to promote participation of underrepresented engineering students at Iowa State.

Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Howe Hall’s Alliant Energy Lee Liu Auditorium.

Events will officially begin at 9 a.m. and include keynote speaker Freeman A. Hrabowski III, chair of the National Academies’ Committee on Underrepresented Groups and the Science & Engineering Workforce Pipeline and president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Hrabowski has been named one of America’s Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report in 2008, according to the College of Engineering Diversity Fair Web site.

Other events include a networking lunch and the presentation of students’ abstracts on topics including new high school recruiting initiatives and opportunities in Ames labs.
