University plans to cut about 73 staff members
September 30, 2009
The university is expecting to have to eliminate or reduce the hours of about 73 merit, professional and scientific staff members to deal with current budget cuts, according to an ISU publication.
Iowa State received $38.3 million less in appropriations for the current fiscal year. ISU President Gregory Geoffroy said in a previous interview with the Daily that he expects the university to receive another budget redaction. He said Gov. Culver will learn on Oct. 7 at the revenue estimating conference how much money the state is short, and from there could hand down a budget cut to the university.
