Daily news editor and self-proclaimed sports adviser Dylan Boyle made this week’s guest picks.

Nate Sandell — Managing Editor of Sports (27-18)

Michael Zogg — Staff Writer (30-15)

Chris Cuellar —Staff Writer (23-22)

Jake Lovett — Asst. Sports Editor (28-17)

Dylan Boyle — News Editor, guest pick

1. Iowa State @ Kansas

Nate    — Kansas — The yellow brick Rhoads does not lead to a happy place for the Cyclones against the Jayhawks.

JakeIowa State — The time is now. How far along is the program? How will this team bounce back after a heartbreak? We’ll know Saturday afternoon.

Michael — Kansas — The Jayhawks just have too much offensive firepower.

ChrisKansas — I’m sorry Cyclones, but the Jayhawks won’t need to come from behind in this one.

DylanKansas — You come to Iowa State for engineering, agriculture or because you want to be on the campus that created the process to make the “world’s finest” blue cheese. You don’t come for the football. Or maybe you do.

2. No. 21 Nebraska @ No. 24 Missouri

Nate    — Missouri — Blaine Gabbert, welcome to the spotlight.

JakeNebraska — The Blackshirts have looked great this season. This will be, by far, their greatest test.

MichaelMissouri — This matchup is so close that I give the nod to the home team.

ChrisNebraska — Big Red takes down Big Blaine in Columbia as the Blackshirts step into the Thursday spotlight.

DylanMissouri  — Although it’s bound to be a close match in Columbia this weekend, I think Missouri will come out victorious. Missouri is undefeated, has the home field advantage and has Alex Denison (@redbearbluebear) on the radio.

3. Kansas State @ Texas Tech

Nate    — Texas Tech — The Wildcats can block as many extra points as they want. Six is still greater than one.

JakeTexas Tech — Texas Tech is in the middle of the Big 12 pack. Translation: They’re still rather good.

MichaelTexas Tech — Quarterbacks are almost as replaceable in Lubbock as wide receivers are in Ames this year.

ChrisTexas Tech — Taylor Potts’ handlebar mustache could lead the Red Raiders to victory over Kansas State on the road. His arm will help.

DylanTexas Tech — Both teams are 3–2, but the Red Raiders will win.

4. Michigan @ No. 12 Iowa

Nate    — Iowa  — First the auto industry. Then the Lions. Followed by the Tigers. Now, the Wolverines add their name to the list.

JakeIowa — 🙁

MichaelMichigan — Forcier will frustrate the Hawkeyes’ defense all day long. Stanzi won’t do the same to Michigan.

ChrisIowa — A win over the young Wolverines would send an anxious Iowa City into a drunken frenzy. You’ll finish that six pack yet Hawkeye fans.

DylanIowa — With the Revenue Estimating Conference announcing a shortfall of 8.4 percent from last year’s revenue numbers on Wednesday and with more cuts to the state budget coming, Kirk Ferentz, the highest paid Iowa employee, better beat Michigan.

5. No. 13 Oregon @ UCLA

Nate    — Oregon — The Ducks do their best to emulate a wildfire and easily burn through the Bruins.

JakeOregon — Boy, won’t this be a shot to the face if the Ducks lose?

MichaelOregon — Blount or no Blount, Oregon’s offense can punch you in the face.

ChrisOregon — The Ducks are getting their act together as the Bruins are falling apart. Quack quack.

DylanOregon — Why? I don’t know. Probably because I don’t care about this game since it’s on the West Coast and it probably won’t be on TV.

6. Boston College @ No. 5 Virginia Tech

Nate    — Virginia Tech — The Hokies put their left foot in and turn the Eagles all about.

JakeVirginia Tech — Tech will make like the younger Vick and stomp all over BC.

MichaelVirginia Tech — The Hokies have been impressive since a season-opening loss to Alabama.

ChrisVirginia Tech — Hokies are going to keep winning in the ACC provided nobody watches and it keeps raining in Blacksburg.

DylanVirginia Tech — I’m reminded of Rory Gallagher’s brilliant performance of “Gambling Blues” at the Isle of Wight in 1970 and hope I don’t “bet my money wrong.”

7. No. 3 Alabama @ No. 20 Mississippi

Nate    — Alabama — Alabama makes like the North and squashes the Rebels’ upset bid.

JakeAlabama — This might be the first challenge for ‘Bama. Note: I said might.

MichaelAlabama — ‘Bama D will keep Snead out of the end zone.

ChrisAlabama — Ole Miss would need some assistance to win this one, but Nick Saban is as kind and caring as a lead pipe on the sideline.

DylanAlabama — Alabama wins and Mississippi will still have the delta blues.

8. No. 1 Florida @ No. 4 LSU

Nate    — LSU — Facing the Tigers in the Bayou can be a tumultuous experience. Even if the Gators resorted to sandbagging, they still may not be able stop their dreams of an undefeated season from flooding away.

JakeLSU — Tim Tebow’s brain will hurt even more after this one, whether he plays or not.

MichaelFlorida — The Tigers have looked shaky at best in their last two games.

ChrisLSU — Tim Tebow will be praying for the rapture with the migraine he’ll get at Tiger Stadium, with 90,000 Cajuns screaming for blood.

DylanLSU — Without Tim Tebow they don’t have a quarterback that can [insert something a good quarterback would do here].

9. No. 17 Auburn @ Arkansas

Nate    — Auburn — Gene Chizik matches his win total from the last two years.

JakeAuburn — Our good friend Gene Chizik keeps showing us how well Tommy Tuberville recruited.

MichaelAuburn — Chizik seems to have put together quite a team. There is no punch line this time.

ChrisArkansas — Drano Bowl 2009: Winning coach gets to be top scumbag in the SEC. Make sure you flush.

DylanArkansas — So the coach of Auburn, who’s name I could not find, has won a few more games than he did at his last job, but Arkansas will prevail.
