Committees seated during GSB meeting

The Government of the Student Body met on Wednesday to complete a number of legislative items:

The Rules Committee has been working on filling all Senate seats along with assigning senators to a committee.

Senate seated Bridget Wedemeier, sophomore in graphic design, as Schilletter & University Village Senator. After the unanimous vote to seat Wedemeier, the Senate had filled all seats.

GSB voted Derek Haskin, junior in pre-business, at-large senator to the University Affairs Committee.

Wedemeier, SUV senator, and Lidia Esteve Agelet, graduate senator and graduate student in agriculture and biosystems engineering, were voted to the Public Relations Committee.

Teresa Tompkins, Campustown senator and senior in political science, was voted onto the Student Debt Committee.

The Finance Committee is preparing for special allocations, said Tom Danielson, GSB finance director and senior in civil engineering.

The Public Relations Committee is working on a new bulletin board outside of the West Office Space of the Memorial Union.

Chelsea Zigtema, Public Relations chairperson and junior in sociology, said the Public Relations Committee is planning on hanging each senator;s pictures on the bulletin board.

Luke Roling, University Affairs Committee chairperson and senior in chemical engineering, addressed two current issues including the Memorial Union Chapel and bikes on campus.

“We are not too concerned about the issues with the Memorial Union Chapel at the moment,” Roling said. “No one has come to GSB with anything yet, so no official GSB statement has been made.”

He also said the committee is working on a campaign to get students to register their bikes.

The executive branch gave comments about their progress as well.

GSB President Jon Turk, senior in political science, said there will be a peer-to-peer financial meeting Tuesday.
