We are writing to endorse Peter Orazem as a candidate at large for the Ames City Council. We have known Peter for 15 years through mutual involvement in scouting and his extensive volunteering in Ames. He has been a tremendous mentor to our sons and to numerous youth in the area. We have found him to be very dedicated — committed to addressing tasks through study, listening carefully to all parties and formulating solutions based on consensus. Peter has volunteered his skills as a stand-up comedian to help various groups in the area. We have found his sense of humor to lighten group dynamics. His experience as a professor of economics and consultant to the World Bank has provided a unique background, which has enabled him to analyze the course of Ames’ economic development.

We support Peter’s goal of bringing new jobs to Ames to support our tax base, preserve our schools, social services and the arts. We invite you to join us in voting for Peter Orazem on Nov. 3.
