LETTERS: Rice dedicated to students

Ian Ringgenberg

In my six years as a student at Iowa State, I have been very fortunate to have the chance to work with members of City Council on several occasions. Overall, I have had very good experiences with people at all levels of Ames city government and believe that most are very receptive to student voices.

Of all of the people I have worked with, however, no one has proved more consistently passionate and committed toward student interests than Dan Rice. He has shown me, time and again, that he works toward the common interests of Ames and Iowa State.

Whether it was his time as director of the Maintenance Shop in its formative years, his current position in the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences or simply the many years he has spent in Ames, he has a breadth of experience at his disposal to work for the good of the community.

As a resident of the 1st Ward myself, I call on the students, staff and faculty of Iowa State to join me in supporting Dan Rice for first  Ward, so that we retain an experienced, imaginative community member on the Council.

Ian Ringgenberg is a graduate assistant in educational leadership and policy studies.
