The eight-piece band White Ghost Shivers will perform Wednesday at Stephens Auditorium.
The band plays a variety of styles from the 30s and 40s including early jazz, hokum, western swing and vaudeville.
The group uses an array of instruments including the banjo, accordion, upright bass, trumpet, clarinet, violin and guitar.
White Ghost Shivers got its start in 1999 when members Westen Borghesi and Jeremy Slemenda met each other at a western swing show in Austin, Texas. Both men became friends instantly by their interest in 50-year-old music.
White Ghost Shiver has won several of the Austin Chronicle’s Music Awards. In 2006 and 2008, they won the “None of the Above” award. In 2007, they won the “Novelty” award. They also won the 13th “Best Album” for “Live on the Radio” in 2006.
