Three ISU football players suspended indefinitely as result of drug related charges

The Iowa State athletic department announced today that football players Kennard Banks, Kevin Hamlin and Cleyon Laing have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. The announcement came as result of potential drug related charges.

The Central Iowa Drug Task Force had been given information of possible drug activity in Frederiksen Court north of the Iowa State campus, according to a press release. A search warrant was then executed on Sept. 11, where a small amount of marijuana was found. Warrants were then issued for the three players.

The Central Iowa Drug Task force is continuing its criminal investigation of the incident.

Banks, a senior starting defensive back has been a key part of the ISU defense this season as he ranks fourth on the team in tackles and has totaled two sacks. Hamlin, a linebacker from Jupiter, Fla., and Laing, a defensive end from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada are both red shirt freshmen.
